SENIOR GUYS

Styling Guide

This is your best tool to help you prepare for your senior session before we have our consultation call two weeks out from your session. I have tried to include answers to questions about what to wear, where to shoot, ideas of items you may want to have with you during our session, and anything else I can think of. I am so excited to work with you. If you have any questions about these ideas, please feel free to get in touch with me. It’s easiest to reach me via text, but please don’t hesitate to call!

Locations

I am exclusively a natural light photographer, and there are many areas around Fort Worth that we can go during our session. I recommend 2 locations close in proximity to one another. Many of my senior guys decide they only want to shoot in one location, and that is absolutely fine.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:

  • The locations you choose are actually very personal. When thinking this through, consider what kind of person you are. Maybe we shoot on a crisp golf course? An urban space with reflective buildings? An area with natural Texas grasses and waterscapes? There is no wrong answer! See my insta, old yearbooks, and my locations inspiration link for visual reference.

  • If you decide on 2 locations, choose 2 distinctly different environments so your gallery has variety. At least one location should have some form of architectural elements (benches, rocks, stairs, sidewalks, etc) which make sitting, and leaning possible.

What to wear

I recommend no more than 3 full wardrobe changes. I provide a pop up/privacy tent for you to easily change without walking back to your car.

  • Most of my guys wear some combination of khakis or jeans and a button down

shirt and they bring a jacket to dress it up. Feel free to wear a suit for a more formal look, or shorts and a golf shirt if it speaks more to who you are. We want your outfit to best represent you! There is no right or wrong, but here are some things to keep in mind:

  • I have found that solids and tight overall patterns work well. Avoid horizontal stripes and overwhelming plaids.

  • I do not photograph one style of shirt due to the distortion that happens with it. See the example below:

THINGS TO CONSIDER

  • I recommend having all of your outfits, shoes, ties, all together and ready for each change. If one of your outfits is jeans, I recommend beginning your session in those. It can be hard to tug on jeans when you’re a little sweaty.

    • A washcloth or small towel for blotting sweat (Texas summer and fall can be quite warm). This is probably the #1 thing my guys need on a shoot.

    • A brush or comb

    • WATER

  • Part of my business is attracting new clients.  Your images may be used in my social media feed for sneak peeks and advertising purposes. If you do not want to be posted, as much as I hope you do, please let me know. I respect your online privacy and do not want to violate your personal boundaries.
